Maybe it's because I'm so tired. The reason I can stop thinking about tiny Pepita, I mean. Maybe. I wish I could smush her small again... just for a day. I don't miss the NICU, or the colic, but I miss everything else about those first months. Even the middle of the night pacing back and forth with my so tired and so frustrated baby girl.
We're very lucky. I don't know how we did it all with working and the battles with my Lyme disease. And that is an ongoing battle that I'd really like to win, please. So tired.

Two Weeks

In Baltimore, the difference between wet, cold Spring and full blown Summer is about 2 weeks.

We'll drink to that!

Horse Hair

Pepita: Mommy, I have horse hair.
Me: What, honey?
Pepita: I have horse hair.
Me: No you don't! Who told you that?
Pepita: I have two ponies.
Me: Ponies? Pony tails! Oh, you have two pony tails! Yeah, you do! Of course. Pony tails.

Home Again
I arrived back home again shortly after 8 last night. Earlier (actually... way, way earlier) that morning, my friends Jen and Elisa and I made the long trek to Richmond. We all woke up way before the sun. Baltimore is relatively quiet at 4 a.m. and we all noted that none of us were grumbling about having to wake up at that ungodly hour. It's different when you work for yourself. It's an adventure.
It was great to meet so many new folks out at Spring Bada Bing. And really awesome to see some customers from last year who stopped by to tell me how much they enjoyed our pixie hats and bibs and cool t-shirts! Thank you so much! I love to hear your Sweet Pepita stories.
We had a really nice time yesterday! I hope I get to see you all again soon!

Our Fairy Tale Weekend
There's no sleeping here. Maybe 2 hours here and another 20 minutes there. That's it. So we were worried that our little princess might fall asleep standing up at the ball this past weekend. But she didn't. It was just me having a tough time keeping up.
I'm pretty sure that the central branch of The Enoch Pratt Free Library is the most beautiful, the most elegant, in the whole United States. Light shines from an atrium into the enormous children's section where a fish pond sits surrounded by most loved books. And it was here where Pepita danced with all the other princesses and knights to a minuet played by a trio of musicians so royally.
After an hour or so of dancing and crafting and dressing up in the queen's court, we wandered the halls upstairs. We sat by a window next to an abandoned card catalog file, enveloped by the soft echo of the festivities below. And this may have been our favorite part of the day... just the two of us and hundreds of slender drawers to open and close.

Sometimes we play the 'if we win the lottery' game- which is all talk, really, because we never actually buy a ticket. Usually I say, "if I win the lottery, I'd take Pepita to the zoo every day," but now I know I'd have to squeeze in the fairy tale ball, too. Outside the library, passersby admired my princess and commented on how lovely she looked. "You don't look like the queen mother, though," they said. I really need some sleep.
