First There Were Flowers

Pepita helped make them in front of the fire after spending the day at the Walter's Art Museum, just the two of us. She rarely gets fun out and about quality time with me, and this made me realize that we need to make time for just the two of us more often.

Our altar for Day of the Dead was small this year. We built it in the dining room, so we couldn't burn copal. We didn't huddle outside in the cold this year and drink hot chocolate (yes, I am afraid of a little rain), but we were very lucky to spend an evening with good friends and precious memories.

Our daughter is so disappointed that Sylvester, her kitty, is still in the spirit world and hasn't fully returned to our world, body and soul.

So, we'll take it down tonight. And hopefully next year will be a little easier on Pepita. And she'll laugh when we tell her that her kitty loved all of us so much that he'd pee on us to claim us as his own.
