There's no sleeping here. Maybe 2 hours here and another 20 minutes there. That's it. So we were worried that our little princess might fall asleep standing up at the ball this past weekend. But she didn't. It was just me having a tough time keeping up.
I'm pretty sure that the central branch of The Enoch Pratt Free Library is the most beautiful, the most elegant, in the whole United States. Light shines from an atrium into the enormous children's section where a fish pond sits surrounded by most loved books. And it was here where Pepita danced with all the other princesses and knights to a minuet played by a trio of musicians so royally.
After an hour or so of dancing and crafting and dressing up in the queen's court, we wandered the halls upstairs. We sat by a window next to an abandoned card catalog file, enveloped by the soft echo of the festivities below. And this may have been our favorite part of the day... just the two of us and hundreds of slender drawers to open and close.

Sometimes we play the 'if we win the lottery' game- which is all talk, really, because we never actually buy a ticket. Usually I say, "if I win the lottery, I'd take Pepita to the zoo every day," but now I know I'd have to squeeze in the fairy tale ball, too. Outside the library, passersby admired my princess and commented on how lovely she looked. "You don't look like the queen mother, though," they said. I really need some sleep.

She gets prettier and prettier each time I see her. Love, Aunt Josie
I love card catalogs too--One day she will sleep, Shannon!
